It all came from the 'We Are Machine' track,
as Paul and Mack tried to make
that title into a complete story.

Dreamsquad story (the key to our survival):

"DREAMSQUAD tells the story of three undercover members of a government
specialist forces branch assigned to assist
a party of 2nd generation colonists
(terraformists) of Mars in their mission
to terraform the planet suitable for
human habitation.
Colonists were moved to the planet in the
late 31st century in humankind's first
population of another world.
First, the moon Deimos was colonized
and mined for water and other
minerals providing propellant for trips
to and from Mars' surface.
Due to its lack of reflective surface material,
Deimos became known as ‘Dark World’.

The colony grew and trips to the Martian
surface became commonplace.
A group of scientists known as ‘The
Whitecoats’, headed by Dr. James Kaufman,
believed they could adapt the human body
to Martian conditions and began to
undertake a series of genetic and cybernetic
experiments on human subjects with mixed success and no definitive outcome.

Internal power struggles resulted in the
rising of the ‘whitecoats’ faction
taking over Dark World.
The project was officially closed by the
government but it was too late to stop the
whitecoats who had already become
cybernauts and had formed their own
civilization on the Martian surface,
designated ‘Robot City’.

A second generation of colonists,
hand-picked terraformists, were sent with
military support and quickly regained
control of ‘Dark World’.
The terraformists believed in constructing
large dome cities made to support human
life in similar conditions to earth.
A new site ‘TerraMondia’
was established on the Martian surface
and boundaries secured to prevent
any intrusions from Robot City."
